Sculpture Gallery

Christen Jo Stone studied for a Diploma in Visual Arts (GIAE 1978) working mainly in pottery, preferring sculptural work to functional pieces. Her work in many media over the years has been, in essence, sculptural, 3D, whether in clay, textiles, jewellery or basketry. Even the wedding stationery she designed when she was printing was often layered and textural.

In 2016 Jo was selected alongside 14 other Victorian  Sculptors to work for 2 weeks creating works from materials from the surrounding forest, for the 20th Anniversary celebration of the creation of the Toolangi Sculpture Trail, Vic. Her work was also selected to be exhibited in the Yarra Valley Arts exhibition, Regeneration,  in the adjoining Forest Discovery Centre.

Jo exhibits with the Victorian Association of Sculptors and Basketmakers of Victoria annually.

She is currently putting the creative emphasis on her sculptural work using clays, concrete, and castings and incorporating many of the skills she has acquired by combining materials and techniques she has utilized in the past. She is also working on a project involving the creation of  character dolls and marionettes.
